Biography

Passionate about drawing from an early age Lynne Riding received a 2yr Art Foundation from Hereford School of Art & Design, a BA in Fashion & Textiles from Manchester College of Art, UK, and on moving to the USA, received an MFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, CA.

While living in the UK, Lynne Riding worked freelance as a fashion illustrator and held part time teaching positions at the London College of Fashion and later at Falmouth School of Art where she was responsible for setting up the new fashion design program. Enjoying the hustle and excitement of the runway shows, Lynne was commissioned regularly by Fashion Weekly to draw at London Fashion Week. Lynne’s reports from shows have been seen in many fashion forecasts and broadsheets worldwide. Such as reporting for a trend forecasting company in New York during the French Spring holiday in St Tropez, South of France.

While living in Charleston, SC, Lynne held a position for ten years as professor of studio art at the College of Charleston and recently as Academic Chair of  the Fashion area at the Art Institute of Charleston.

Lynne Riding’s client list includes: Vogue, H & M, Top shop, Marie Claire, Marie France, Marks & Spencer UK, Boots UK, Harvey Nichols, L’Oreal, Clairol, ICI, the International Institute for Cotton & the International Wool Secretariat.

Commissions were completed, such as the cover & feature pages for “Marie France”-Paris, large-scale posters for H& M situated monthly in the London Underground, Topshop light box advertisement @ the London Underground & illustrations for TV commercials for Boots, UK, & Hertz, USA.

She also worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from advertising and packaging, and occasionally beauty, fiction & culinary books, for Chronicle Publishing, Dorling Kindersley, & Penguin Books, among others.
